Use of Props in a Portrait

Families - We try to keep our portraits as simple as possible. However, sometimes a prop, like a book, a stuffed animal, or a special toy, may enhance the portrait and add meaning for your family. Tasteful and appropriate props help to center the attention of the viewer. We should avoid props that add clutter and confusion. If you’d like to include a prop, we should discuss what would work best prior to your session.

Seniors - Examples of appropriate props for you may be items related to a sport or activity you’re involved in (a cheerleader might bring pom-poms; a basketball player might bring a basketball; your team outfit could be used). You may even want to pose near your new car! Props are not required, but we should discuss your ideas prior to your session.

It's not really as confusing as it might sound! However, it's really very important to think about and plan ahead what you want to wear or what props you’d like to include so your portrait will be successful !
